Must-Read Books

book with pages folded like heart #lambentlifeblog #mustreadbooks #goodbooks

I have been so excited to write this post! Perusing through my Goodreads to see all the awesome books I have read is a monthly occurrence. I thought I would share some must-read books! Some of these I want to read over again it has been so long and they were amazing!

I’m sharing with you some books that are on my list to read this Spring, as well as books I have read previously that I would recommend.

Currently Reading

I usually only like to have one book on the go at a time. Then I would be able to focus on it and not get distracted. If I like a different book better I then tend to finish those and be reading the other forever.

Right now I do have two on the go and I have been enjoying it. I like to have a book that gets me out of my head, but I am also reading a book about ADHD. My stepson was diagnosed with ADHD last year, and both my husband and I are trying to find ways to further support him with this. My husband and I are doing a little book club on our own, and we will read a chapter and come together to talk about what we have learned about ADHD, what applies to my stepson, and how we can adapt our parenting to better support him. The book we chose is:

Taking Control of ADHD by Russell A Barkley

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

The other book I am reading has been very popular lately. This is the fantasy get you out of your head and your busy life book. I am reading A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas. I am on the book A Court of Wings and Ruin. This book is fantasy with some spice, and it is just right for Spring with all things growing and blooming! You’ll want to get outside to tan and enjoy those warmer days with your sunhat, a frozen palm bay, and this book!

On my List:

These are the books that are on my list currently. When this comes out I will be 30 weeks pregnant and I should actually be getting started reading this mindful birthing book to help prepare myself to birth a child! Being an obstetrics nurse I have a pretty good idea of what to expect, however, I cannot anticipate what it will be like for myself!

Mindful Birthing by Nancy Bardacke

The other book I would like to read is Braiding Sweetgrass. I participated in a Decolinization workshop in my workplace, and I was inspired to start reading indigenous scholarship, and this book which a coworker mentioned to me. I have seen it in the bookstores the last few times I have wandered through and I have always been curious. My coworkers are going to read this and discuss it in book club format when we finish.

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

This book I have seen on the shelves for a while and I pick it up every time but don’t buy it. Now I have a buy-in to read it as I have a little book club formed for this book, and my curiosity has spiked more than ever. Some coworkers and I participated in some workshops around decolonization in the program that we teach. When the sessions ended, we had created a great ethical space for us to have discussions and wanted to continue the work. So this book is the one we will read and gather to chat about next.

This book was such a fun read. I actually just finished rereading it while pregnant. For me, I love the messaging, pillars, and overall wellness guidance and perspective it provides. I loved the flexibility and balance, and how it taught me to connect more with my body and tune in. Also, Kate is just awesome and I want to try her Fabletics clothing!

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book I could not put down when I read it. It was a great read and I highly recommend it. Lots of chapters ended with a good hook or cliffhanger which is why I zoomed through it!

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

My husband started reading this first and was telling me about it so I decided to read it. It is the first science fiction book I have read. This is my new favorite book right now. The nerd in me enjoyed the science of it, but it wasn’t too out there. I wish another would be made!

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

It’s been a while since I have read this one but I remember enjoying it. It gives Eat Pray Love vibes but wilderness edition. I loved the personal growth the main character goes through, and how it’s not always a bright and sunny transformational. It was real.

Atomic Habits by James Clear

I like this book as a personal development read. So many of my habits I have learned how to reset and stack with others. I didn’t like how some involve organizing your space and leaving things out if you want to do them. I am an organized person and I hate clutter in my house. Everything has a home! So I decided to leave that and not take it. Lots of information to help you get set on the right track to creating healthy habits for yourself.
